BASKETBALL RULES & REGULATIONS

These rules apply to our leagues from 3rd grade and up. Our Bitty and 1st/2nd grade rules are different.

BITTY BALL leagues there will be no stealing.

4 ten-minute quarters with running clock. (Bitty and 1st/2nd 8-minute running clock)

Clock stops last minute of 2nd quarter and last 2 minutes of game.

Clock does not stop if a team is winning by more than 20 points.

2 timeouts per half per team, no carry over.  5 fouls per player.

Overtime is 3 minutes; clock stops last minute and each team gets 1 timeout.

Youth leagues can press the whole game unless you’re up by more than 15 points, then you MUST pull your team back past half court. High School and Men’s league can press no matter what the score

8 players minimum per team. Maximum is up to you. NO SUBS are allowed.

You MUST be a registered and paid player to play in the game or your team forfeits the game. If you only have 4 players and need a sub, let league director know. He will let you bring 1 sub but the other team gets to decide if the game is a forfeit or if they’ll let you play with 1 sub. You will still play the game either way but your team gets an automatic loss if the other team calls game a forfeit.

You can NOT add players to your team after week 3 of your season. Roster is frozen and set after week 3 even with injured players. So, make sure you register and pay before week 3 if playing.

2 technical fouls and you must leave the building and will be suspended for the next game also.  This is for coaches, players and parents or any spectator. No exceptions.

If management or a ref asks you to leave the building because you have 2 techs or are just a disturbance whether coach, player, parent or spectator, you must leave or your team forfeits the game.

NO swearing, fighting or any intimidation towards refs, scorekeepers, other players, coaches or spectators. This will not be tolerated. You will be asked to leave immediately and/or banned from the facility.

Coaches and Adults, please lead by example. Teach and act with good sportsmanship whether you win or lose.

Adult players, respect each other, all other spectators, the refs, score keeper and employees. There’s little eyes and ears watching and listening. Win and lose with class. Act like an adult please.

If you have any issue with the refs or score keepers, PLEASE see management. DO NOT approach or talk to either the refs or scorekeepers. Management will handle that so that nothing escalates into an argument.

Coaches and players. Please clean up your bench after your game to be courteous to the teams playing after you. We take pride in a clean facility. Please help us maintain that in any way you can.

If a team is more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled game time, the game is a forfeit win for the team that showed up on time. We will play a shortened game with the time that is left but the late team gets an automatic loss.

Tie breakers for standings are as follows.

1. Head-to-Head. Team with more victories against the other is higher seeded team

2. Lower Defensive points against. Team that gives up the fewer points for the WHOLE season is higher seed.

Our standings on the website do not keep track of head-to-head and it’s out of our control. If the standings are listed wrong, we will make sure the standings are correct for the playoffs.

Thank you. All Star Sports Management
